Thinking about dating right away after breaking up might not seem to be a good idea. You will just end up being hurt or hurting someone. Dating should not necessarily be something that you would do in order to get over your ex. It is something that you should actually avoid doing right after breaking up. There are no rules set as to how long you have to wait in order to start dating again, but there are definite rules that you must at least try to apply in your life before you actually start anew.
- Start dating when you don’t feel like you need it. Looking for somebody to be with after a breakup just means that you are just looking for somebody that will be your comfort zone. This just means that you are not yet ready to start dating and that you are just looking for a loophole to avoid being lonely. So when you feel that you don’t need it, then this might actually be the perfect time for you to start dating.
- Have at least a 3-month rest period. You have to admit that being in a relationship can actually put a toll on your life. More often than not, relationships bring stress and problems so being free from all that for at least three months will help you focus on yourself again. This will also be an ample amount of time to help you heal your broken wounds so you can start dating again. If after the three month period you feel that you are ready then you should start dating.
- When you have moved on... After you have moved on, starting to date someone will actually be much easier. You don’t have any baggage left from the past relationship therefore you can start not only a new life but a new “love life”. Starting to date right away after you have moved on will prevent you from acquiring wasted time on being single.
Starting to date again is like starting a new chapter in your life. You have to be ready to face something before starting anything new. Dating is just the first step into finding someone that you might end up spending your life with and making sure that you are all healed from the past is just one way of making sure that you don’t make the same mistake again.
